Word today that the estate of Michael Jackson has just signed the biggest record deal in history. Up to $250 million from Sony for 10 projects. In the 8 years before Michael Jackson’s death, as he struggled mightily힘차게 with medical, legal and financial problems and did not release any albums of original material, he was nonetheless constantly writing and recording new songs. And today’s huge historic record deal between Sony Music and the Jackson estate means those songs would now see the light of day.
There is plenty of evidence to suggest this new material will sell briskly활발하게. Since his death in June, Jackson’s estate has already seen huge profits from music, merchandise and tickets to the concert film, “This Is It.” Sony has sold an estimated 31 million of Jackson’s album since he died. And his estate expects to have earned a quarter of a billion dollars by the one year anniversary of his death.
We’ve seen it before. Since 1991, the year Queen’s front man Freddy Mercury died, that band has sold 19.3 million albums while Elvis has sold 31.2 million albums. Meanwhile Nirvana has had two No.1 albums since front man Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994.
