Hours after the pile-ups <차량 등의> 연쇄 충돌, the 2-miles stretch of Interstate-4 between Orlando and Tampa, was still enveloped 덮어싸다 by a thick blanket of fog and smoke. Officials describe the scene as a major disaster 대참사 with 70 cars and trucks tangled 엉키다 together in 10 separate accidents. Many were on fire.

 

“This has completely gone…” While traveling in the predawn 동트기 <> hours, drivers said they suddenly found themselves on a stretch of road where they couldn’t see anything as vehicles slammed into 세게 부딪치다 each other. This was one of the first 911 calls. “I said, how many cars are involved? He said, I can’t even tell you, it is so thick, and all we can hear is cars hitting.” “You couldn’t even see what you was hitting. You didn’t know if it was a person, a body.”

 

Rescue workers moved carefully from car to car to locate 찾아내다 the dead and injured. Even veteran officials called it the worst they’d ever seen. “To tell you the truth, it was absolutely horrific 소름이 끼치는.” Among those involved in the accidents was Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Carlton Turner dispatched ~ 급파하다 to the scene, he was struck by another car and injured.
