Early blast of winter and it’s anything but 결코 ~아니다 a wonderland. It’s turning many places cold, dark and deadly. Hi, everybody. Welcome. This is CNN Headline News. I’m Chuck Roberts. Busy Tuesday got going on. Thanks for looking in. we’re gonna start with a story developing out of the Columbia River basin <하천의> 유역, 분지 in Oregon.

 

The snow of the picture there may be intruding 방해하는. You can see the highway is beneath that body of water. Right now, it’s completely submerged ~ 물에 잠그다, closed in both directions. It closed the highway this morning. The Oregon Department of Forestry warned of the potential of the slide. This is again, right on the Columbia River basin, just about 60 miles or so northwest of Portland.

 

The death toll 사망자수 from the nasty ice storm in the mid section of the nation stands now at 23. 15 people have died in Oklahoma alone. More than half a million homes and businesses are without power there. It’s the biggest power outage 정전 in state history.

 

Northwestern Missouri got slammed with about an inch of ice. 170,000 people lost power there. 100,000 more have no electricity in Kansas. And in Iowa, about an inch of ice is expected to coat 뒤덮다 parts of the Hawkeye State 주의 별명 before this day is done.

 

Well, hurricane season may be officially over. But there’s a brand new storm, a tropical storm causing problems in the Caribbean. Subtropical storm Olga is now headed toward Haiti and the Dominican Republic which forecasters say could get 6 inches of rain. Olga skirted 언저리를 지나다 Puerto Rico’s coast overnight with drenching rains and maximum winds of 45 miles per hour. It knocked out power to 79,000 people.
