미국, 영하권 날씨 극성

Good morning. It’s Monday, December 3rd, from CBS News in New York City. I’m Meg Oliver. A deadly storm system is moving across the United States causing at least 10 deaths in the Midwest. It’s now passing over the northeast dropping both snow and rain. CBS’s Wendy Gillette reports.

Cities and towns across the northeast deployed 배치하다 their salt trucks and plows 제설기 Sunday as winter weather stormed through. “It’s a little bit slippery, but it’s not too bad. You take you time and you’re okay.”

The driving conditions proved to be more dangerous in the Midwest where the storm caused at least 10 traffic deaths. A slushy 질척거리는 icy mix covered roads in Omaha, Nebraska. And in Illinois, the weather led to flight delays and power outages 정전 in tens of thousands of homes. Here in New York City, the storm only dropped a couple of inches as you can see here. But it is still the first sight of snow here in the region in many, many months.

“It’s cold and nasty <날씨 등이> 험악한.” But one man’s ugly is another one’s nice with families like one enjoying the winter wonderland. Holly Myers plans a first snow day party. “We’re gonna go have a hot totty 위스키 칵테일의 종류 and then walk through central park. So it’s very exciting. It’s very pretty out here.”

But as the storm heads north, it may not be a pretty sight. Forecasters in Maine predict heavy snow and gusting 세차게 부는 winds, prompting ~하도록 재촉하다 people to ready themselves with winter gear 의복. “We had a lot of customers coming in yesterday preparing. We sold about 35 snow blowers 제설차.”

Elsewhere in the US, up to 40 inches fell in the mountains of Colorado. Mt. Laguna near San Diego also saw a dusting 흩뿌림. And record rainfall and floods hit the Phoenix area. But the weather wasn’t all bad, just take a look. In New York, Wendy Gillette, for CBS News.
