Part soccer player, perhaps bigger part celebrity 유명인. He and his pop star wife Victoria Beckham’s arrival in Los Angles was more proof of the public’s demand for all things Beckham.
Major league soccer is banking on ~에 의지하다, ~을 기대하다 him to be America’s soccer savior 구세주. “You know, I think, to have expectations means that you’re doing something well in the sport. And, you know, hopefully I’ve done over the years.” The struggling Los Angeles Galaxy is making an enormous investment in him. One that some fear may not pay off 이익을 가져오다, 성과를 거두다.
Every weekend, millions of Americans sit in stands and watch their kids play soccer. But when they go home, they turn on the TV and watch baseball, football, or another sport.
